Fall Wedding Inspiration From Our Favourite Season

Updated: Sep 19, 2023

Fall tablescape

Winter is my favourite season, closely followed by fall. Yes, I know I’m crazy, summer has just arrived and I’m already thinking about cooler weather again. What's not to love about fall - the brilliant orange, yellow and red colours of changing leaves, the perfect mild temperatures, fresh baked goods, pumpkin spiced everything, and the most beautiful weddings! If you have a fall wedding planned, or have had to change your spring/summer wedding to the fall, you may need to tweak your existing wedding decor and style to match. With all my fingers and toes crossed for COVID restrictions to be even more relaxed by the fall, here is some inspiration to help incorporate elements of the season into your wedding.

Colours

Set the tone of your wedding with fall floral palettes. Include colours such as burnt orange, mustard yellow, ochre, blush pink, mauve, deep red berry, toffee, and gold – these colours perfectly reflect the changes in nature at this time of year, and work beautifully together in a bouquet, or in a table arrangement. Utilize these colours throughout your wedding colour scheme, as the main players or as accents.

Textures

Incorporate textures like velvet, lace, leather, feathers and dried grasses. Using velvet ribbon for bouquets, or lace table overlays bring a warmth to the overall vibe of your wedding.

Bridal Party

I love velvet bridesmaid dresses! To me they fit perfectly with fall, and they are just so fun and unique. Try finding dresses in jewel tones, or rich amber colours, and mixed and match colours or styles to try and emulate the textures and warmth of fall. Groomsmen can dabble in some 70' s style brown suits, or even crushed velvet in different colours, or classic tweed.

Stationary

Invitation suites can set the tone of your wedding from the get go. Think gold edging, leather fabric, dried greenery and velvet. Include personal touches of these textures in other details of your wedding, such as velvet or wood ring boxes, terracotta name tags, or with harvest themed wedding favours.

Table Decor

The sky's the limit with fall table decor. Rustic wood tables, gold chargers and flatware, assorted candles, florals with fall colours, lace overlays and macrame or velvet table runners, and jewel toned crystal glassware.

Bridal Wear

Envision long sleeves, lace, illusion fabric and heavier material to keep you warm in the cooler temperatures. Incorporate additional pieces such as leather jackets and hats.
